Hadith 3082

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُهَاجِرٍ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ يُوسُفَ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُوسَى، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَيَّ أَمَانَيْنِ لِأُمَّتِي وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَأَنْتَ فِيهِمْ سورة الأنفال آية 33 وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ سورة الأنفال آية 33 فَإِذَا مَضَيْتُ تَرَكْتُ فِيهِمُ الِاسْتِغْفَارَ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ " ، هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ ، وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُهَاجِرٍ يُضَعَّفُ فِي الْحَدِيثِ .
´Narrated Abu Burdah bin Abi Musa:` from his father, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Allah sent down two guarantees of safety for the benefit of my Ummah: And Allah would not punish them while you are among them, nor will He punish them while they seek forgiveness (8:33). So when I pass, I leave seeking forgiveness among them until the Day of Resurrection."

Explanation: 1️⃣:
While you are present among them, Allah will not subject them to punishment.

2️⃣:
Secondly, as long as they continue to repent and seek forgiveness (istighfar), Allah will also not send punishment upon them.

Note:
(In the chain of narration, Isma'il ibn Ibrahim ibn Muhajir is a weak narrator.)
