Hadith 291

حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْأَشَجُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاق، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ : " مِنَ السُّنَّةِ أَنْ يُخْفِيَ التَّشَهُّدَ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : حَدِيثُ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ ، وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ .
´`Abdullah bin Mas`ud said:` "It is from the Sunnah to say the Tashahhud quietly"

When a Companion says, “It is from the Sunnah to do such-and-such,” or, “The Sunnah is such-and-such,” then according to the majority, this is considered to have the ruling of being marfu‘ (attributed directly to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
When a Companion says, “It is from the Sunnah to do such-and-such,” or, “The Sunnah is such-and-such,” then according to the majority, this is considered to have the ruling of being marfu‘ (attributed directly to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
