Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Dr. Abdur Rahman Freywai
Explanation:
1:
It is understood from this that standing up for someone out of respect and veneration is disliked (makruh).
However, there is no objection to standing up in order to assist a person who is incapacitated.
Also, if someone from among those sitting moves forward to receive an arriving person and brings him into the gathering and seats him, there is no harm in this, just as Fatimah (radi Allahu anha) used to do for the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).

Benefits and Issues:

The Magians (Majus) and other people of ignorance (Ahl al-Jahiliyyah) used to show respect to their elders in this manner, and even now their habit is that they stand up to show respect to an elder, and do not sit down until he himself sits or tells them to sit.
In Islamic law (Shari‘ah), it is forbidden (haram) to demand respect in this manner.

➋ Yes, if someone stands up out of love on his own—especially when stepping forward to shake hands (musafahah) or embrace (mu‘anaqah)—then there is no harm in it, as has been mentioned in the previous chapter "Fi al-Qiyam," hadith 5215.
