´Abu Humaid As-Sa'idi narrated:` "When the Prophet would prostrate, he placed his nose and his forehead on the ground, and he held his forearms away from his sides, and he placed his hands parallel to his shoulders."
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Dr. Abdur Rahman Freywai
English Commentary:
1:
Regarding placing the forehead and nose on the ground during prostration (sujud), there are three opinions: ➊ It is obligatory to place both. ➋ It is obligatory to place only the forehead; placing the nose is recommended (mustahabb). ➌ Placing either one of the two is sufficient, and placing both is recommended (mustahabb). In light of the evidences, caution lies in the first opinion. A follower of the Sunnah does not need to unnecessarily seek loopholes.
