English Commentary:
1:
That is, just as a camel, when sitting, first places its knees on the ground, in the same way, this person also intends that after rising from bowing (ruku‘), when going into prostration (sujud), he should first place his knees on the ground.
This is an interrogative of negation,
meaning that he should not do so;
rather, he should place his two hands before his two knees. In Musnad Ahmad, Sunan Abi Dawud, and Sunan Nasa’i, this hadith is narrated as follows: ((When one of you prostrates, he should not descend as the camel descends, but let him place his hands before his knees)). That is, when any of you goes into prostration, he should not sit as the camel sits, but should place his two hands before his two knees.
This is the opposite of the camel’s manner of sitting,
because when a camel sits, it places its knees on the ground first, and its knees are in its forelegs, as is recorded in Lisan al-‘Arab and other lexicons.
Hafiz Ibn Hajar, in terms of the chain of narration, has considered the narration of Wa’il ibn Hujr, which was mentioned previously, to be more authentic, because it is supported by a narration from Ibn ‘Umar radi Allahu anhuma, which Ibn Khuzaymah has declared authentic and Bukhari has mentioned in a suspended (mu‘allaq) and stopped (mawquf) form.
Most jurists (fuqaha’), and generally the hadith scholars (muhaddithin), hold the view that the hands should be placed before the knees,
and they have deduced this from this very hadith.
The Shafi‘is and Hanafis, who hold the view that the knees should be placed first, have given several responses to this hadith, but all are questionable.

841. Commentary:
It is recorded in Sahih Bukhari that Abdullah ibn Umar radi Allahu anhuma used to place his hands on the ground before his knees. [كتاب الاذان باب 128]
Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah also preferred this view, that while going into prostration (sujud), one should place the hands on the ground before the knees, in order to avoid resembling a camel. It is a well-known fact that the knees of animals are in their forelegs, and when a camel lowers itself to sit, it first places its knees down. The majority of hadith scholars (muhaddithin) and the Hanbalis hold this view, but the Hanafis and Shafi‘is act upon the weak narration of Wa’il radi Allahu anhu and place the knees first.
