1؎ : From this hadith, the virtue of knowledge is established. It is understood that traveling for the acquisition of knowledge is recommended (mustahabb). Musa (alayhis salam) traveled with Khidr (alayhis salam) to acquire knowledge, and Jabir ibn Abdullah (radi Allahu anhu) undertook a journey of one month to learn a single hadith from Abdullah ibn Qais (radi Allahu anhu). The scholars of the salaf used to travel far and wide in pursuit of hadith. If one strives to acquire sacred knowledge (ilm shar‘i) with sincerity of intention, Allah, Lord of the worlds (Rabb al-‘alamin), makes the path to Paradise easy for him.
