Hadith 2559

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَاصِمٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، وَثَابِتٍ , عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " حُفَّتِ الْجَنَّةُ بِالْمَكَارِهِ ، وَحُفَّتِ النَّارُ بِالشَّهَوَاتِ " , قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ صَحِيحٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ .
´Anas narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:` "Paradise is surrounded by hardships, and the Fire is surrounded by desires."

Explanation:
1:
"Paradise is surrounded by disliked and painful things"—for example:
Performing the dawn (Fajr) prayer in congregation during severe winter is so distressing,
but Paradise will be granted to such people.
And how much pleasure there is in indulging the eye or private parts in forbidden enjoyment,
but if one does not repent from this act, then there is Hell.
