´Mutarrif bin 'Abdullah bin Ash-Shikh-khir narrated from his father, from the Prophet (s.a.w), who said:` 'Ibn Adam was fashioned with ninety-nine calamities surrounding him, if the calamities miss him, he is stricken by decrepitude until he dies."

Explanation: 1: The meaning is that a person, from birth to old age, is surrounded by various kinds of calamities and hardships. If he somehow escapes these calamities, he will not be able to escape the calamity of old age, and ultimately death will seize him. Thus, this world is a prison for the believer and a lush, golden garden for the disbeliever. Therefore, the believer should be patient with every decree of Allah, and should be content with whatever Allah has destined for him.
