Hadith 2396

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When Allah intends good and well-being for a servant, He hastens his punishment in this world, and when He intends evil (badness) for a servant, He withholds the punishment for his sins, until He gives him full punishment on the Day of Resurrection."
Narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The greatest reward comes with the greatest trial. Indeed, when Allah loves a people, He tests them. Whoever is content with Allah's decree, for him is Allah's pleasure, and whoever is displeased with Allah's decree, Allah is displeased with him." © Imam Tirmidhi says:

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Dr. Abdur Rahman Freywai
Explanation:
1:
That is, Allah Ta'ala puts a person in difficulties,
and tests him through various kinds of trials,
as if the trials of this world are a blessing for the believer.
These become a means for the forgiveness of sins and an increase in reward.
In order to attain honor and virtue, it is necessary that the servant embodies patience and contentment in every trial and hardship.

Benefits and Issues:
(1)
There is benefit for the servant in trials.
Therefore, it is necessary to strive within the bounds of the Shariah while being content with Allah’s decree.
If a servant expresses displeasure at a calamity, then the calamity will still end at its appointed time, but the servant will be deprived of reward and will incur the displeasure of Allah.

(2)
A calamity is also a blessing from Allah, provided that one does not disobey the commands.
