Hadith 2355

´Jabir bin 'Abdullah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:` "The poor Muslims are admitted into Paradise before their rich by forty autumns."

Explanation:
1:
In this hadith, a period of five hundred years is mentioned, whereas in the preceding hadith, a period of forty years is mentioned. The difference in duration is due to the difference in the ranks and statuses of the poor. It is thus understood that some of the poor, according to their ranks and statuses, will enter Paradise five hundred years earlier, while some of the poor will enter forty years earlier.

Benefits and Issues:

➊ With Allah, a period of a thousand years is equal to one day. (Surah Al-Hajj: 47)
Therefore, the meaning of the poor entering Paradise half a day before the wealthy is that, according to worldly reckoning, they will enter Paradise five hundred years earlier.

➋ Entering Paradise first indicates their elevated ranks, and they will also have to endure fewer hardships on the Day of Resurrection.

➌ Another reason for this is that the wealthy will have to give an account for the acquisition and expenditure of their abundant wealth, which will take considerable time, whereas the poor will be done with their reckoning in a short time due to their limited earnings.

➍ Receiving little or no wealth in this world is also a blessing from Allah, but along with it, patience is necessary, just as gratitude is necessary with abundant wealth.
