Hadith 2345

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ : " كَانَ أَخَوَانِ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَكَانَ أَحَدُهُمَا يَأْتِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَالْآخَرُ يَحْتَرِفُ ، فَشَكَا الْمُحْتَرِفُ أَخَاهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : لَعَلَّكَ تُرْزَقُ بِهِ " , قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
´Anas bin Malik narrated:` "There were two brothers during the time of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w). One of them used to come to the prophet (s.a.w), and the other had some business. The businessman among them complained to the Prophet (s.a.w) about his brother, so he said:'Perhaps you are provided for because of him.'"

Explanation:
1:
The laborer complained that he does not assist me in earning, yet eats with me.
Upon this, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) advised the complainant that he stays with me to learn religious knowledge (ilm al-din),
therefore, understand that the sustenance you receive from your earnings contains blessing due to him as well.
So do not become arrogant.
It should be clear that the other brother was not simply sitting idle,
nor was he shirking work without reason.
He was engaged in the acquisition of religious knowledge (ilm al-din).
Therefore, this hadith cannot be used as evidence for idleness or shirking work.
Rather, it indicates that the other family members should support and assist those who are engaged in the path of Allah.
