1؎ : The meaning is that, in the sight of Allah, the world has no value or worth whatsoever; rather, it is the most insignificant of things. The evidence of its insignificance is that if it had any value or worth in the sight of Allah, He would bestow it only upon His beloved servants. However, the reality is that He gives it to His enemies as well, that is, to the disbelievers and polytheists. It is not possible that the giver would give something of value, in his estimation, to his enemy. Disbelievers are deprived even of the lowest blessing of Paradise precisely because Paradise is for Allah’s beloved servants, not for His enemies. Thus, it is clear that, in the sight of Allah, the world and its wealth and means have absolutely no importance. Therefore, the people of faith should also not attach much importance to it; rather, they should consider it merely as a means to improve the life of the Hereafter.

Explanation: 1: The meaning is that, in the sight of Allah, the world has no value or worth whatsoever; rather, it is the most insignificant of things. The evidence of its insignificance is that if it had any value in the sight of Allah, He would have bestowed it only upon His beloved servants. Whereas the reality is that He gives it to His enemies, that is, the disbelievers and polytheists. It is not possible that the giver would grant to his enemy something that holds value and worth in his eyes. The disbelievers have been deprived of even the lowest blessing of Paradise for this very reason, because Paradise is for Allah’s beloved servants, not for His enemies. Thus, it is clear that in the sight of Allah, the world and its wealth and possessions have absolutely no importance. Therefore, the people of faith should also not attach much importance to it; rather, they should consider it merely as a means to improve their life in the Hereafter.
