Benefit:
The aforementioned narration is weak in its chain of transmission, but it is correct that false testimony is a major sin, because there are numerous authentic ahadith regarding this matter.
The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) has declared three sins to be the gravest among the major sins: associating partners with Allah (shirk), disobedience to parents, and false testimony. See (Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Shahadat, Chapter: What has been said regarding false testimony, Hadith: 2653, 2654).
