´'Aishah said:` "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) was asked about Waraqah. Khadijah said to him: 'He believed in you, but he died before your advent.' So the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'I saw him in a dream, and upon him were white garments. If he were among the inhabitants of the Fire then he would have been wearing other than that.'"
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Dr. Abdur Rahman Freywai
Explanation:
1:
This hadith is evidence that if a Muslim sees his deceased Muslim brother’s body covered in a white garment in a dream, then this is a prediction of his good state—that he is among the people of Paradise.
Waraqah bin Nawfal was the cousin of Khadijah radi Allahu anha. After hearing about your (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) condition, he affirmed your prophethood and said that the angel who comes to you is the Namus Akbar (the Great Messenger).
Expressing regret over his old age, he said that if he remained alive, he would certainly support you at the time when your people would expel you from your home.
Note:
(In the chain of narration, ‘Uthman bin ‘Abd al-Rahman is a narrator whose hadith is rejected (matruk al-hadith).
From the text itself, it is also clear that this hadith is objectionable (munkar).)
