Benefits and Issues:
➊ The mentioned narration has been declared weak in its chain by our esteemed researcher, whereas other scholars have considered it hasan (good) due to supporting evidences. Shaykh al-Albani, after a detailed discussion on this hadith, has graded it as hasan, and his opinion appears to be closer to the truth. And Allah knows best. For further details, see: (al-Silsilah al-Sahihah by al-Albani, no. 613). Therefore, a person who takes on such a responsibility is considered at fault, and in this way, his honor is unnecessarily diminished.

➋ Some scholars wish to keep the administrative affairs of the mosque, madrasa, or organization in their own hands, even though they possess scholarly ability but lack administrative capability. Sometimes, the people associated with the mosque or madrasa themselves assume that a certain person is a great scholar, and therefore will manage the administration well. In such a situation, one should not take on a responsibility about which one is certain that it will be difficult to fulfill.
