حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ هَيَّاجٍ الْأَسَدِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَرْحَبِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدَةُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ الْفِهْرِيِّ، رَوَى عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " بُعِثْتُ فِي نَفَسِ السَّاعَةِ ، فَسَبَقْتُهَا كَمَا سَبَقَتْ هَذِهِ هَذِهِ لِأُصْبُعَيْهِ السَّبَّابَةِ وَالْوُسْطَى " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ ، مِنْ حَدِيثِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ ، لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ .
´Al-Mustawrid bin Shaddad Al-Fihri reported that the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) said:` "I was sent in advance of the Hour, so that I precede it like this precedes this." (Indicating) with his index and middle fingers.

Explanation:
1:
This indicates the nearness of the Day of Judgment, as if there is nothing intervening between your (the Prophet’s) sending and the Day of Judgment, just as there is no other finger between the index and the middle finger. Another meaning that is mentioned is that there will be no other prophet between me and the Day of Judgment.

(In the chain of narration, (Mujalid bin Sa‘eed) is weak.)
