´Umm Malik Al-Bahziyyah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) mentioned Fitnah, such that it was drawing near. She said:` "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Who is the best of people during it?' He said: 'A man among his livestock, who pays what is due on them, and worships his Lord. And a man clutching a head of his horse, terrified of his enemy, and they terrified oh him."'
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Dr. Abdur Rahman Freywai
Explanation:
1:
That is, at the time of the appearance of tribulation (fitnah), the best person will be the one who, staying away from the places of tribulation, busies himself with tending to his animals, and due to them, he pays special attention to the religious obligations and rights upon him, such as the payment of zakat and charity, and at the same time, he worships the Lord of all worlds according to His command. Similarly, that person is also better who, living in some remote place with his horse, confronts the enemies present there, keeps them in fear and anxiety, and himself also fears them.
Note:
(There is an ambiguous narrator in the chain, but based on corroborating evidence, the hadith is sahih li ghayrihi [authentic due to supporting narrations].)
