حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُكْثِرُ أَنْ يَقُولَ : " يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ، ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ " ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، آمَنَّا بِكَ وَبِمَا جِئْتَ بِهِ فَهَلْ تَخَافُ عَلَيْنَا ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، إِنَّ الْقُلُوبَ بَيْنَ أُصْبُعَيْنِ مِنْ أَصَابِعِ اللَّهِ يُقَلِّبُهَا كَيْفَ يَشَاءُ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنِ النَّوَّاسِ بْنِ سَمْعَانَ ، وَأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، وَعَائِشَةَ ، وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ ، وَهَكَذَا رَوَى غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، وَرَوَى بَعْضُهُمْ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَحَدِيثُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَصَحُّ .
´'Anas narrated:` "The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) would often say: Ya Muqallibal-qulub, thabbit qalbi 'ala dinik('O Changer of the Hearts! Strengthen my heart upon Your Religion.)' So I said: 'O Prophet of Allah! We believe in you and what you have come with, but do you fear for us?' He said: 'Yes. Indeed the hearts are between two Fingers of Allah's Fingers, He changes them as He wills.'"

Receiving the ability to remain steadfast upon guidance after attaining it is a very great blessing from Allah.

In the present era, new trials (fitan) are emerging. Falsehood is being presented in an embellished manner, and the texts of the Qur’an and Hadith are being used with incorrect interpretations to support erroneous positions. In these circumstances, not only the general public but even the scholars need to continuously seek help from Allah.

Guidance and misguidance are in the hand of Allah; therefore, one should request guidance only from Him.

The words regarding Allah’s hand, fingers, etc., that have appeared in the Qur’an and Hadith must be believed in, but only Allah knows their true reality.

Hadith Authentication: The chain of narration for this report is weak.
● The explicit statement of hearing (sama‘) from Abu Mu‘awiyah al-Darir is present in Musnad Ahmad [112/3ح 12107], but Sulaiman bin Mihran al-A‘mash is a mudallis, and this narration is from «عن», therefore this chain is weak.
● There are numerous supporting narrations (shawahid) for the marfu‘ hadith in this report, by which it is hasan sahih, but for the phrase “Do you fear for us?” there is no authentic (sahih) or hasan supporting narration. «والله أعلم»
