´Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said:` "Indeed a man, and a woman, perform deeds in obedience to Allah for sixty years, then death presents itself to them, and they cause such harm in the will that the Fire becomes warranted for them."Then he recited: After payment of legacies he (or she) may have bequeathed or debts, without causing harm. Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Dr. Abdur Rahman Freywai
Explanation:
1:
The manner of causing harm is as follows: for example, making a bequest (wasiyyah) of more than one third of the wealth, or gifting all the wealth to one of the heirs, or before making the bequest, falsely claiming debts upon oneself in order to deprive others.
It is evident that in all these cases, the heirs will suffer loss.
Therefore, the punishment for this is also severe.
2:
After the bequest you have made and after the repayment of debts, provided that no one else has been harmed, this is what has been prescribed by Allah,
and Allah is All-Knowing, Forbearing.
These are the limits set by Allah, and whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, Allah will admit him to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, and that is the great success.
