Hadith 2057

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا رُقْيَةَ إِلَّا مِنْ عَيْنٍ أَوْ حُمَةٍ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : وَرَوَى شُعْبَةُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمِثْلِهِ .
´'Imran bin Husain narrated that the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said:` "No Ruqyah except for the (evil) eye and the scorpion sting."

Brief Explanation
1؎ : This does not mean that incantation (ruqyah) is not permissible for any illness other than these two, because incantation for other illnesses is established from the ahadith as well.
