Hadith 1959

´Jabir bin Abdullah narrated that the Messenger of Allah said :` "When a man narrates a narration, then he looks around, then it is a trust."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Dr. Abdur Rahman Freywai
1؎ :
The meaning of the hadith is that if a person says something to you and, while speaking, turns to look to his right and left, then his intention is that this is a confidential matter being shared only with you, and no one else should be informed of it. Therefore, it is part of the listener’s trustworthiness to keep it secret, because this is among the etiquettes of a gathering.

Benefits and Issues:
A Muslim should be extremely perceptive.
When your brother, while speaking to you, looks around here and there, this is an indication that this is a confidential matter which you must safeguard, and it is a trust (amanah); it should not be conveyed further.
