Hadith 1801

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي الشَّوَارِبِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْمُخْتَارِ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَلْعَقْ أَصَابِعَهُ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْرِي فِي أَيَّتِهِنَّ الْبَرَكَةُ " ، قَالَ : وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، وَكَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، وَأَنَسٍ ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ سُهَيْلٍ ، وَسَأَلْتُ مُحَمَّدًا عَنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، فَقَالَ : حَدِيثُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ مِنَ الْمُخْتَلِفِ لَا يُعْرَفُ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِهِ .
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When any one of you eats food, let him lick his fingers, for he does not know in which of them the blessing is." __QUR_N__

Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- This hadith is Hasan Gharib.
2- I asked Muhammad bin Isma'il al-Bukhari about this hadith, and he said: This hadith of Abdul Aziz is of the category of Mukhtalif, and it is only known through his narration.
3- In this chapter, hadiths have also been narrated from Jabir, Ka'b bin Malik, and Anas (may Allah be pleased with them). We know it from this chain only through the narration of Suhail.

Brief Explanation
1؎: That is, no one knows whether the blessing was in what he has already eaten, or in what remains stuck to his fingers, or in what is left in the food vessel. Therefore, while eating, a person should be mindful of all these, so that he is not deprived of the blessing which Allah has placed in the food.
