A similar hadith is also narrated from Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) through this chain.
حَدَّثَنَا
سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا
عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ
سَعِيدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ، عَنْ
أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ
أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا اسْتَجَدَّ ثَوْبًا سَمَّاهُ بِاسْمِهِ ، عِمَامَةً ، أَوْ قَمِيصًا ، أَوْ رِدَاءً ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ ، أَنْتَ كَسَوْتَنِيهِ ، أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهُ وَخَيْرَ مَا صُنِعَ لَهُ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ وَشَرِّ مَا صُنِعَ لَهُ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : وَفِي الْبَاب ، عَنْ عُمَرَ ، وَابْنِ عُمَرَ .
Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) says that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wore a new garment, he would mention its name, such as turban, shirt, or cloak, then he would say: «اللهم لك الحمد أنت كسوتنيه أسألك خيره وخير ما صنع له وأعوذ بك من شره وشر ما صنع له» "O Allah! All praise is for You, You have clothed me with this, I ask You for its goodness and the goodness of what it was made for, and I seek refuge with You from its evil and the evil of what it was made for." © Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- This hadith is hasan ghareeb sahih,
2- In this chapter, there are also ahadith from Umar and Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them).
