Hadith Gradingالألبانی:صحيح حجاب المرأة (96) ، الصحيحة (836)
1؎: That is, the Jews and Christians do not use dye, therefore use it in opposition to them. This is why its use was widespread among the Salaf (pious predecessors). Thus, among the biographers of the early generations, some explicitly mention whether a particular person used dye or not, and whether someone used black dye or did not use black dye.
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Dr. Abdur Rahman Freywai
Explanation: 1: That is, the Jews and Christians do not use dye (khidab), therefore, in opposition to them, use it. This is why its use was found in abundance among the Salaf (pious predecessors). Thus, among the biographers of the predecessors, some explicitly mention that such-and-such person used dye and such-and-such did not. And that so-and-so used black dye and so-and-so did not use black dye.
