 باب مَا جَاءَ فِي لُبْسِ الْخَاتَمِ فِي الْيَمِينِ

Hadith 1742

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ الرَّازِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاق، عَنْ الصَّلْتِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَتَخَتَّمُ فِي يَمِينِهِ ، وَلَا إِخَالُهُ إِلَّا قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَتَخَتَّمُ فِي يَمِينِهِ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل : حَدِيثُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ الصَّلْتِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ ، حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .
Salit bin Abdullah bin Naufal says: I saw Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) wearing a ring on his right hand, and I think he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wearing a ring on his right hand. © Imam Tirmidhi says:
Muhammad bin Ismail Bukhari said: The narration of Muhammad bin Ishaq through the chain of Salit bin Abdullah bin Naufal is Hasan Sahih.

Abu Dawud — Hadith 4229
Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: I saw as-Salt ibn Abdullah ibn Nawfal ibn Abdul Muttalib wearing the signet-ring on his right small finger. I asked: What is this? He replied: I saw Ibn Abbas wearing his ring in this manner. He put its stone towards the upper part of his palm. Ibn Abbas also mentioned that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wear his signet-ring in his manner.

Benefits and Issues:
It is recommended (mustahabb) and Sunnah that the ring be worn on the little finger of the right hand.
