Abu Bakr bin Abu Musa Ash'ari says: I heard my father say in the presence of the enemies: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Indeed, the gates of Paradise are under the shade of swords." 1 A man from the people, who had a disheveled appearance, asked: Did you hear the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say this while describing it? He said: Yes. So that man returned to his companions and said: I bid you all peace, then he broke the sheath of his sword and fought with it until he was martyred. © Imam Tirmidhi says:

Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: If a brave and courageous person enters alone among the enemy in order to inflict harm upon them and is martyred, then there is no objection to this. However, if he alone cannot cause them any harm, rather there is a risk of being captured which could result in harm to the Muslims, then in that case, doing so is not permissible.
