It is narrated from Ma'qil bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) that Umar bin Khattab sent Nu'man bin Muqarrin (may Allah be pleased with him) to Hormuz, then he narrated the complete hadith. Nu'man bin Muqarrin (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in a (certain) battle. When he did not fight at the beginning of the day, he would wait until the sun had declined, the wind began to blow, and the help of Allah descended. © Imam Tirmidhi says:

Explanation:
From this hadith, it is understood that the commencement of battle should be at dawn; if there is some delay, then one should wait until the sun has declined. However, this is in the case when the initiation of fighting is to be from the Muslims’ side.
