´Umm Salamah narrated:` "Allah's Messenger would hasten Zuhr more than you (people), while you (people) hasten Asr more than him."
Explanation & Benefits

1:
Some people have deduced from this narration the desirability (istihbab) of delaying the ‘Asr prayer,
whereas there is no such evidence in it from which the desirability of delaying ‘Asr can be inferred.
It only mentions that those whom Umm Salamah radi Allahu anha was addressing used to perform ‘Asr even earlier than the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam,
so Umm Salamah narrated this hadith to them.
There is absolutely no indication in this that the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam used to perform ‘Asr late, such that delaying ‘Asr could be deduced from it.
‘Allamah ‘Abd al-Hayy Lakhnawi rahimahullah writes in “al-Ta‘liq al-Mumajjad”: “This hadith only indicates that hastening in Zuhr is more emphasized than hastening in ‘Asr, not that delaying is desirable.”
Undoubtedly, this hadith indicates that performing the Zuhr prayer promptly (as soon as its time enters) is even more emphatically commanded than hastening in the ‘Asr prayer,
not that it is desirable to perform the prayer with delay.
