It is narrated from Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The truthful and trustworthy merchant will be with the Prophets, the truthful ones, and the martyrs (on the Day of Resurrection)." © Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- This hadith is Hasan, and we know it only through this chain from Sufyan al-Thawri, who narrated it from Abu Hamza,
2- And Abu Hamza's name is Abdullah bin Jabir, and he is a sheikh from Basra.
'Through another chain,' Sufyan Thawri narrated from Abu Hamza, with the same chain, a similar hadith.

Commentary:
Note:
(In Ibn Majah (2139) and Al-Mustadrak Al-Hakim (2142), this hadith is narrated from Ibn Umar, in which there is no mention of the Prophets (nabiyeen) and the truthful (siddiqeen). In its chain, there is a narrator named Kulthum bin Jaušan, about whom Hakim says that he is "qaleel al-hadith" (narrates few hadiths), and Bukhari and Muslim have not narrated from him. The mursal narration of Hasan al-Basri serves as a supporting evidence (shahid) for this hadith. Abu Hatim al-Razi has called him "da'eef al-hadith" (weak in hadith), while Ibn Ma'in said "laysa bihi ba's" (there is no harm in him), and Imam Bukhari has authenticated him. Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah has called him weak. In summary, he is a narrator about whom there is scholarly criticism (mutaqallam fihi), but the hadith of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, in which Hasan al-Basri is present, is strengthened by his narration. For this reason, Shaykh al-Albani has declared the hadith of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri to be "sahih li ghayrihi" (authentic due to supporting evidence), and the hadith of Ibn Umar to be "hasan sahih" (good and authentic).
