باب مَا جَاءَ فِي الْمُخْتَلِعَاتِChapter: What has been related about the women who seek a Khul'
Hadith 1186

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُزَاحِمُ بْنُ ذَوَّادِ بْنِ عُلْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَطَّابِ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " الْمُخْتَلِعَاتُ هُنَّ الْمُنَافِقَاتُ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ ، وَلَيْسَ إِسْنَادُهُ بِالْقَوِيِّ وَرُوِيَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ اخْتَلَعَتْ مِنْ زَوْجِهَا مِنْ غَيْرِ بَأْسٍ لَمْ تَرِحْ رَائِحَةَ الْجَنَّةِ " .
´Thawban narrated that:` The Prophet said: "The women who seek a Khul are hypocrites."

This has been stated as a form of rebuke and reprimand, meaning these women are such that they will not be deemed worthy of initial entry into Paradise, because outwardly they appear obedient but inwardly they are disobedient.
And this statement is regarding women who seek khul‘ (divorce initiated by the wife) without any valid reason.

(Based on corroborating narrations and supporting evidence, this hadith is classified as sahih li ghayrihi (authentic due to external supporting chains); otherwise, its narrator “Layth ibn Abi Sulaym” is weak, and “Abu al-Khattab” is unknown.
