Hadith 3951
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ «يُسْهِمُ لِلْخَيْلِ، وَكَانَ لَا يُسْهِمُ لِلرَّجُلِ فَوْقَ فَرَسَيْنِ، وَإِنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ عَشَرَةُ أَفْرَاسٍ»
Al-Awza'i, may Allah have mercy on him, said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to allocate shares for horses, and he would not allocate a share for more than two horses for one person, even if he had ten horses.
Hadith 3952
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا فَرَجُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ، عَنْ أَزْهَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ كَتَبَ إِلَى أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ الْجَرَّاحِ أَنْ: «أَسْهِمْ، لِلْفَرَسِ سَهْمَيْنِ، وَلِلْفَرَسَيْنِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَسْهُمٍ، وَلِصَاحِبِهَا سَهْمًا، فَذَلِكَ خَمْسَةُ أَسْهُمٍ، وَمَا كَانَ فَوْقَ الْفَرَسَيْنِ فَهِيَ جَنَائِبُ»
Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to Sayyiduna Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him): "For a horse, two shares; for two horses, four shares; and for the rider, one share, making a total of five shares. And more than two horses are considered extra animals."
Hadith 3953
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا فَرَجُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ، قَالَ: نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الزُّبَيْدِيُّ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، كَتَبَ إِلَى أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بِذَلِكَ
The same message was written by Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) to Abu Ubaidah (may Allah be pleased with him) in another letter as well.
