Hadith 3937
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: لَا أَعْلَمُ إِلَّا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ «فَرَضَ لِلْفَرَسِ سَهْمَيْنِ وَلِلرَّاجِلِ سَهْمًا» قَالَ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ: لَا أَدْرِي أَنَا شَكَكْتُ أَوْ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I do not know, except from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he (peace be upon him) allotted two shares for the horse and one share for the one who walks on foot. Abdul Aziz says: I do not know whether the doubt was from me or from Ubaidullah.
Hadith 3938
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ سَوَادَةَ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، قَالَ: كَتَبَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ إِلَى عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ: «أَمَّا بَعْدُ، فَإِنَّ سُهْمَانَ الْخَيْلِ فَرِيضَةٌ مِمَّا فَرَضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَهْمَيْنِ لِلْفَرَسٍ، وَسَهْمًا لِلرِّجَالِ، وَلَعَمْرِي لَقَدْ كَانَ حَدِيثًا مَا أَشْعُرُ أَنَّ أَحَدًا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ هَمَّ بِانْتِقَاصِ ذَلِكَ، فَمَنْ هَمَّ بِانْتِقَاصِ ذَلِكَ فَعَاقِبْهُ، وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ»
It is narrated from Sawadah bin Ziyad (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) wrote to Abdul Hameed bin Abdur Rahman: "Indeed, two shares for the horseman and one share for the foot soldier are from the obligatory division prescribed by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and by my life, this is an issue in which I do not know of any Muslim who intended to reduce it. So whoever intends such a thing, punish him. And peace be upon you."
Hadith 3939
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: نا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ «أَعْطَى يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ لِلرَّجُلِ سَهْمًا وَلِلْفَرَسِ سَهْمَيْنِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that on the day of Khaybar, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave one share to a man and two shares to a horse.
Hadith 3940
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ، أَنَّ أَبَا حَازِمٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي رُهْمٍ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي رُهْمٍ، وَأَخِيهِ أَنَّهُمَا " كَانَا فَارِسَيْنِ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ، فَأُعْطِيَا سِتَّةَ أَسْهُمٍ: أَرْبَعَةً لِفَرَسَيْهِمَا، وَسَهْمَيْنِ لَهُمَا، فَبَاعَا السَّهْمَيْنِ بِبَكْرَيْنِ "
It is narrated from Abu Ruhm (may Allah be pleased with him) and his brother: On the day of Khaybar, they were mounted, and they were given six shares—four for their horses and two for themselves. So they sold two shares in exchange for two camels.
Hadith 3941
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ، أَنَّ الْخَيْلَ كَانَتْ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ سِتَّةً وَثَلَاثِينَ فَرَسًا، وَأَنَّهُ «أَسْهَمَ لِكُلِّ فَرَسٍ سَهْمَيْنٍ، وَكَانَ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ مِائَتَيْ فَارِسٍ، وَأَسْهَمَ لِكُلِّ فَرَسٍ سَهْمَيْنِ وَلِلرَّجُلِ سَهْمًا»
Salih bin Kaysan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: On the day of Khaybar, there were thirty-six horses with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he allotted two shares for each horse. And on the day of Hunayn, there were two hundred horsemen, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) allotted two shares for each horse and one share for each foot soldier.
Hadith 3942
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا حُدَيْجُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ مُضَرِّبٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ «فَرَضَ لِلْفَارِسِ سَهْمَيْنِ وَلِلرَّجُلِ سَهْمًا»
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Two shares were fixed for the horseman and one share for the foot soldier."
Hadith 3943
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا حُدَيْجُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: «كُنْتُ مَعَ ابْنِ عُثْمَانَ وَمَعِي فرسَانِ، فَأَعْطَانِي لِكُلِّ فَرَسٍ سَهْمَيْنِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَسْهُمٍ»
Abu Ishaq (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I was with Ibn ‘Uthman, and I had two horses with me, so he gave two shares for each horse, that is, four shares.
Hadith 3944
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ بُشَيْرِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ أَنَّ «أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ كَانُوا أَلْفًا وَأَرْبَعَ مِائَةٍ»
Bashir bin Yasar (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of Hudaybiyyah were one thousand four hundred.
Hadith 3945
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ، قَالَ: «كَانَ مَعَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ مِائَتَا فَرَسٍ، فَقَسَمَ لِكُلِّ فَرَسٍ سَهْمَيْنِ»
Salih bin Kaysan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: On that day, they had two hundred horses with them, and two shares were given for each horse.
Hadith 3946
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: نا أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ «فَرَضَ لِلْفَارِسِ مِنْهُمْ سَهْمَيْنِ، وَلِلرَّاجِلِ سَهْمًا»
Mak'hool (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) allotted two shares for each horseman among them, and one share for each foot soldier.
Hadith 3947
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، قَالَ: «أَوَّلُ مَنْ أَشَارَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلْفَرَسِ سَهْمَيْنِ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ»
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The first to advise the Prophet (peace be upon him) that two shares be allotted for a horse was Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him).
