An army went towards Rome. A man stole one hundred dinars. Later, feeling remorseful, he went to Abdur Rahman bin Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: "It will not be accepted now; you will have to present yourself before Allah." Then he went to Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said the same. Then someone advised him to give twenty dinars as khums and to give the remaining eighty dinars as charity on behalf of the army. So Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "A very excellent fatwa has been given."
