A warrior of Qadisiyyah narrated: After the battle, when a man was bathing, a gold brick was found beneath his feet. He brought it to Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), so he said: “Include it in the Muslims’ spoils of war.”

Imam Mak'hool (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "No one has the right to the spoils (salb) unless he kills or captures the enemy, and on the day of defeat or victory there is no spoils (salb), and in the spoils only clothing, weapons, belt, and mount are included; other wealth is not included in the spoils."

Imam Raja bin Haywah (may Allah have mercy on him) and other Tabi'in said: "The khums should be taken out from the entire spoils of war, then after the khums, the nafl should be given, then the remaining wealth should be distributed among the army."
