Hadith 3858
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: «تَنَفَّلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَيْفَهُ ذَا الْفَقَارِ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that: On the day of Badr, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set aside his sword "Dhu al-Fiqar" as a special gift (nafl) for himself.
Hadith 3859
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ أَنَّ «سَيْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَا الْفَقَارِ كَانَ لِأَبِي الْعَاصِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ فَقَتَلَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ وَتَسَلَّحَهُ»
Sayyiduna Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that: The sword of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), "Dhul-Fiqar," belonged to Abu al-As bin Munabbih. The Prophet (peace be upon him) killed him on the day of Badr and took his weaponry for himself.
Hadith 3860
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ، أَنَّ عَوْفَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيَّ، أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ لَا أَرَاكَ بِيَوْمِي هَذَا، فَأَوْصِنِي، قَالَ: «عَلَيْكَ بِجَبَلِ الْخَمَرِ؟» قَالَ: وَمَا جَبَلُ الْخَمَرِ؟ قَالَ: «أَرْضُ الْمَحْشَرِ» فَأَوْصَاهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «إِيَّاكَ وَسَرِيَّةَ النَّفَلِ، فَإِنَّهُمْ إِنْ يَلْقَوْا يَفِرُّوا، وَإِنْ يَغْنَمُوا يَغُلُّوا»
Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik Ashja'i رضي الله عنه came to the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I fear that this is my last day, so advise me." He صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Adhere to Jabal Khumr." He asked: "What is Jabal Khumr?" He صلى الله عليه وسلم replied: "It is the land of gathering (Ard al-Mahshar)." Then he صلى الله عليه وسلم advised and said: "Beware of the volunteer army, for if they meet the enemy, they will flee, and if they obtain spoils of war, they will be treacherous in it."
Hadith 3861
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: «إِذَا تَسَرَّتِ السَّرِيَّةُ بِإِذْنِ الْإِمَامِ، لَهُمْ مَا أَصَابُوا، وَإِذَا تَسَرَّتِ السَّرِيَّةُ بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِهِ خَمَّسَهُمْ وَكَانُوا كَالنَّاسِ»
Sayyiduna Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "If a detachment goes out with the permission of the leader, then whatever wealth they obtain is theirs, and if they go out without permission, then their wealth will be divided into five shares and they will be equal to the common people."
Hadith 3862
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: «إِذَا تَسَرَّتِ السَّرِيَّةُ، فَإِنْ شَاءَ الْإِمَامُ نَفَّلَهُمْ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ خَمَّسَهُمْ»
Sayyiduna Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "If a detachment sets out, the Imam has the choice to either give them a voluntary share from the spoils of war, or if he wishes, to take out the khums (one-fifth)."
Hadith 3863
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا أَشْعَثُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: «لَا تُسَرَّى السَّرِيَّةُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ أَمِيرِهَا، وَمَا نَفَّلَهُمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَهُوَ لَهُمْ»
Sayyiduna Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "No group should set out without the permission of the leader, and whatever is given to them is their right."
Hadith 3864
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، فِي السَّرِيَّةِ تُسَرَّى قَالَ: «إِنْ شَاءَ الْإِمَامُ نَفَّلَهُمْ قَبْلَ الْخُمُسِ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ خَمَّسَهُمْ»
Sayyiduna Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "When a detachment sets out, the Imam may, if he wishes, give them a voluntary share before the khums, and if he wishes, he may take out the khums."
Hadith 3865
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا يُونُسُ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: «كَانَ الْإِمَامُ يُنَفِّلُ الرَّجُلَ، وَالسَّرِيَّةَ كَذَلِكَ»
Sayyiduna Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "The Imam would grant nafl (extra share) to even a single man, and also to the entire detachment (army)."
