Hadith 3796
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو شِهَابٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: كَانَ يُقَالُ: «إِذَا كَانَ الْخِصْبُ فَأَعْطُوا الظَّهْرَ حَقَّهُ فِي الْمَنْزِلِ، وَإِنْ كَانَ الْجَدْبُ فَانْجُوا بِالظَّهْرِ، وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالدُّلْجَةِ، فَإِنَّ الْأَرْضَ تُطْوَى بِاللَّيْلِ»
Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "When the land is fertile, let your mount rest at its destination and give it its due right, and when the land is dry, protect your mount, and travel at night, for at night the earth contracts."
Hadith 3797
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ، عَنْ أَبَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ، يَرْفَعُهُ قَالَ: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ رَفِيقٌ يُحِبُّ الرِّفْقَ، وَيُعِينُ عَلَيْهِ مَا لَا يُعِينُ عَلَى الْعُنْفِ، إِذَا رَكِبْتُمْ هَذِهِ الدَّوَابَّ الْعُجْمَ فَأَنْزِلُوهَا مَنَازِلَهَا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ، فَإِنْ كَانَتِ الْأَرْضُ جَدْبَةً فَانْجُوا عَلَيْهَا بِنِقْيِهَا، وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالتَّعْرِيسَ فِي الطُّرُقِ، فَإِنَّهَا مَأْوَى الْحَيَّاتِ وَالدَّوَابِّ»
It is narrated marfu‘an from Sayyiduna Khalid bin Ma‘dan (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Indeed, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, is gentle and loves gentleness, and He grants through gentleness what He does not grant through harshness. When you ride these mute animals (mounts), let them dismount at suitable places on the ground. And if the land is barren (i.e., there is no grass), then quickly move them along on the clean parts of their bodies. And you should not sleep on the roads, for the roads are the dwelling places of snakes and wild beasts.”
Hadith 3798
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنِّي لَأَسْتَعْمِلُ الرَّجُلَ، وَغَيْرُهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْهُ؛ لِأَنَّهُ أَيْقَظُ عَيْنًا، وَأَشَدُّ مَكْيَدَةً، وَأَمْثَلُ رِحْلَةً، وَإِنِّي لَأُعْطِيهِ، وَغَيْرُهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْهُ أَتَأَلَّفُهُ»
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Sometimes I appoint a person as an official even though another is more beloved to me, because he is more alert, more understanding, and has a better mount. And sometimes I give to someone while another is more beloved to me; I do so to win his heart."
Hadith 3799
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَيْسَ شَيْءٌ خَيْرًا مِنْ أَلْفٍ مِثْلِهِ مِنَ الْإِنْسَانِ»
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Among people, one person is better than a thousand people like them."
