Hadith 3709
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، عَنْ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ فَضَالَةَ الْهَوْزَنِيِّ، أَنَّ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ، كَانَ يَقُولُ: «لَا نَامَتْ عُيُونُ الْجُبَنَاءِ»
Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: "The eyes of cowards never sleep."
Hadith 3710
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ: حُدِّثْتُ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ: «إِذَا خَشِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ جُبْنًا فَلَا يَغْزُو»
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "If any of you fears cowardice within himself, then he should not go out for jihad."
Hadith 3711
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الْهَمْدَانِيِّ، عَنْ حَسَّانَ الْعَبْسِيِّ، قَالَ: قَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ: " الْجِبْتُ: السِّحْرُ، وَالطَّاغُوتُ: الشَّيْطَانُ، وَإِنَّ الشَّجَاعَةَ وَالْجُبْنَ غَرَائِزُ تَكُونُ فِي الرَّجُلِ، يُقَاتِلُ الشُّجَاعُ عَنْ مَنْ لَا يَعْرِفُ، وَيَفِرُّ الْجَبَانُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، وَإِنَّ كَرَمَ الرَّجُلِ دِينُهُ، وَحَسَبَهُ خُلُقُهُ، وَإِنْ كَانَ فَارِسِيًّا أَوْ نَبَطِيًّا "
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "As long as there is magic and the rebellious devil, and bravery and cowardice are in a man's nature, the brave supports a stranger and the coward flees from his own father. A man's true honor is his religion and his lineage is his character, whether he is Persian or Nabatean."
Hadith 3712
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، عَنْ شَيْخٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: «وَاللَّهِ لَأَنْ أَمُوتَ عَلَى فِرَاشِي أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَتَقَدَّمُ كَتِيبَةً فَأُسْتَقْبَلَ حَتَّى أُقْتَلَ»
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "By Allah! Dying on my bed is more beloved to me than being killed while fighting in the vanguard of the army."
Hadith 3713
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَحْمِلَ عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَحْدَهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَتُرَاكَ تَقْتُلُهُمْ وَحْدَكَ حَتَّى تَحْمِلَ أَصْحَابَكَ فَتَحْمِلَ مَعَهُمْ»
A man wanted to attack the polytheists alone, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Will you kill them all by yourself? It is better to take your companions with you and attack along with them."
