Hadith 3705
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ خَالِدَ بْنَ مَعْدَانَ، وَفُضَيْلَ بْنَ فَضَالَةَ، يَقُولَانِ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَكْرَمَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةَ بِالْعَمَائِمِ وَالْأَلْوِيَةِ»
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has honored this Ummah with turbans and banners."
Hadith 3706
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ «أَوَّلَ مَنْ عَقَدَ اللِّوَاءَ الْأَبْيَضَ مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، وَإِنَّمَا كَانَتِ الرَّايَاتُ سُودًا»
The first white flag was tied by Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with them both); before that, the flags used to be black.
Hadith 3707
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، قَالَ: «كَانَ عَلَى الزُّبَيْرِ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ رَيْطَةٌ صَفْرَاءُ قَدِ اعْتَجَرَ بِهَا، وَنَزَلَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَعَلَيْهِمْ عَمَائِمُ صُفْرٌ»
On the day of Badr, Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) was wearing a yellow garment, and the angels also descended wearing yellow turbans, peace be upon them.
Hadith 3708
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: «كَانَ لَهُ يَلْمَقٌ مِنْ دِيبَاجٍ بِطَانَتُهُ سُنْدُسٌ مَحْشُوٌّ قَزًّا، وَكَانَ يَلْبَسُهُ فِي الْحَرْبِ»
Hazrat Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: They had a valuable silk garment whose inner lining was also of silk, and they used to wear it in battle.
