Sayyiduna Abu Amir Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "A young man intended to return to his home during a journey. Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) investigated, then said: You went into the Fire, you fell into the Fire, and you returned to the Fire, so begin a new deed."

Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) saw two men fighting in a place where they could not harm the enemy. One returned and was saved, the other was killed. Uqbah did not perform the funeral prayer for him.

K'ab al-Ahbar (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked: "Should the funeral prayer be offered for a disobedient warrior?" He replied: "A person is taken towards the grave, the grave does not come towards him, so offer the prayer."
