Hadith 3625
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ شُفَيٍّ الْهَمْدَانِيِّ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيَّ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَقُولُ: " {وَأَعِدُّوا لَهُمْ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ قُوَّةٍ وَمِنْ} [الأنفال: 60] أَلَا إِنَّ الْقُوَّةَ الرَّمْيُ، أَلَا إِنَّ الْقُوَّةَ الرَّمْيُ، أَلَا إِنَّ الْقُوَّةَ الرَّمْيُ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Allah Almighty said: «وَأَعِدُّوا لَهُمْ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ قُوَّةٍ» Listen: Strength is archery, listen: Strength is archery, listen: Strength is archery.
Hadith 3626
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ الْهَمْدَانِيِّ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «سَتُفْتَحُ لَكُمْ أَرَضُونَ يَكْفِيكُمُ اللَّهُ، فَلَا يَعْجِزَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَلْهُوَ بِأَسْهُمِهِ»
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Lands will be conquered for you, Allah will suffice you," therefore, after that, do not become lazy in playing with your bows.
Hadith 3627
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَّامٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ رَجُلًا رَامِيًا، وَكَانَ عُقْبَةُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيُّ يَمُرُّ بِي فَيَقُولُ: يَا خَالِدُ، اخْرُجْ بِنَا نَرْمِي، فَلَمَّا كَانَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ أَبْطَأْتُ عَنْهُ، فَقَالَ: هَلُمَّ أُحَدِّثْكَ حَدِيثًا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُدْخِلُ بِالسَّهْمِ الْوَاحِدِ ثَلَاثَةَ نَفَرٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ صَانِعَهُ يَحْتَسِبُ فِي صَنَعْتِهِ الْخَيْرَ، وَالرَّامِيَ بِهِ، وَمُنَبِّلَهُ، ارْمُوا، وَارْكَبُوا، وَأَنْ تَرْمُوا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ تَرْكَبُوا، وَلَيْسَ مِنَ اللَّهْوِ إِلَّا ثَلَاثٌ: تَأْدِيبُ الرَّجُلِ فَرَسَهُ، وَمُلَاعَبَتُهُ أَهْلَهُ، وَرَمْيُهُ بِقَوْسِهِ وَنَبْلِهِ، وَمَنْ تَرَكَ الرَّمْيَ بَعْدَ مَا عَلِمَهُ رَغْبَةً عَنْهُ فَإِنَّهَا نِعْمَةٌ تَرَكَهَا أَوْ قَالَ كَفَرَهَا "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah will admit three people into Paradise because of a single arrow: the one who made it, the one who shot it with the right intention, and the one who shot it." And he said: "Practice archery and horse riding, but archery is more beloved to me than riding." And he said: "Permission is granted to play only in three things: training a horse, playing with one's family, and archery." And he said: "Whoever learns archery and then abandons it has shown ingratitude for the blessing of Allah."
Hadith 3628
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ - رَفَعَهُ - قَالَ: " كُلُّ شَيْءٍ مِنْ لَهْوِ الدُّنْيَا بَاطِلٌ إِلَّا تَأْدِيبَ الرَّجُلِ فَرَسَهُ، وَمُلَاعَبَتَهُ أَهْلَهُ، وَلَهْوَهُ عَلَى قَوْسِهِ، إِنَّهُ يَدْخُلُ فِي السَّهْمِ الْوَاحِدِ ثَلَاثَةٌ الْجَنَّةَ: صَانِعُهُ مُحْتَسِبًا، وَالرَّامِي بِهِ، وَالْمُمِدُّ بِهِ "
The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every amusement of the world is false except for a man training his horse, playing with his family, and practicing archery. Through one arrow, three people will enter Paradise: the one who makes the arrow, the one who shoots it, and the one who hands it over."
Hadith 3629
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، قَالَ: «لَا تَحْضُرُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ شَيْئًا مِنْ لَهْوِكُمْ إِلَّا رَمْيًا أَوْ رِهَانًا»
It is narrated from Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him): "The angels are not present at any of your games except archery and horse racing."
Hadith 3630
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ لَا تَحْضُرُ مِنْ لَهْوِكُمْ إِلَّا الرِّهَانَ وَالرَّمْيَ»
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The angels do not attend any of your games except archery and horse racing."
Hadith 3631
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «كُلُّ لَهْوٍ لَهَا بِهِ الْمُؤْمِنُ بَاطِلٌ إِلَّا رَمْيَهُ عَنْ قَوْسِهِ، وَأَدَبَهُ فَرَسَهُ، وَمُلَاعَبَتَهُ أَهْلَهُ»
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Every amusement of a believer is futile except for his shooting arrows, training his horse, or playing with his family."
Hadith 3632
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ رِجَالٍ مِنَ الْفُقَهَاءِ أَحَدُهُمْ حَكِيمُ بْنُ حَكِيمِ بْنِ عَبَّادٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، كَتَبَ إِلَى أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ الْجَرَّاحِ: «أَنْ عَلِّمُوا، مُقَاتِلَتَكُمُ الرَّمْيَ، وَعَلِّمُوا غِلْمَانَكُمُ الْعَوْمَ»
Hazrat Hakeem bin Hakeem Ansari (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him): "Teach archery to your warriors and teach swimming to your slaves."
Hadith 3633
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِفِتْيَةٍ يَرْمُونَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «ارْمُوا يَا بَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ؛ فَإِنَّ أَبَاكُمْ كَانَ رَامِيًا»
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) passed by some young men who were practicing archery, so he said: "Shoot, O sons of Isma'il! Your father Isma'il (peace be upon him) was also a skilled archer."
Hadith 3634
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ حُذَيْفَةَ بِالْمَدَائِنِ يَشْتَدُّ بَيْنَ الْهَدَفَيْنِ لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ إِزَارٌ "
Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) was seen running between two targets in Mada'in, and he was not wearing an izar (lower garment).
Hadith 3635
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: نا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ حُذَيْفَةَ يَشْتَدُّ بَيْنَ الْهَدَفَيْنِ يَقُولُ: «أَنَا بِهَا فِي قَمِيصٍ»
Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: "I wear a shirt and run between two targets."
Hadith 3636
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَشْتَدُّ بَيْنَ الْهَدَفَيْنِ، وَيَقُولُ: «أَنَا بِهَا»
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "I used to run between two targets and say: I have hit the mark."
Hadith 3637
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُهُ يَشْتَدُّ بَيْنَ الْهَدَفَيْنِ فِي قَمِيصٍ، فَإِذَا أَصَابَ خَصْلَةً قَالَ: «أَنَا بِهَا، أَنَا بِهَا»
It was seen that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was running between two targets in a shirt, and upon hitting the target he would say: "I have hit it."
