Hadith 3586
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، يَقُولُ: مَرَّ سَلْمَانُ بِابْنِ السِّمْطِ وَهُوَ مُرَابِطٌ هُوَ وَأَصْحَابُهُ، وَقَدْ شَقَّ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَقَالَ لَهُ سَلْمَانُ يَا ابْنَ السِّمْطِ أَلَا أُحَدِّثُكَ بِحَدِيثٍ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: «رِبَاطُ يَوْمٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ صِيَامِ شَهْرٍ وَقِيَامِهِ، وَمَنْ مَاتَ فِيهِ وُقِيَ فِتْنَةَ الْقَبْرِ، وَنَمَا لَهُ عَمَلٌ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ»
Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Standing guard for one day in the way of Allah is better than fasting and standing in prayer for a month, and whoever dies in this state is saved from the trial of the grave, and his deeds continue to increase until the Day of Resurrection."
Hadith 3587
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءٌ الْخُرَاسَانِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: " رِبَاطُ يَوْمٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أُوافِقَ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ فِي أَحَدِ الْمَسْجِدَيْنِ: مَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَمَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَمَنْ رَابَطَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَقَدْ رَابَطَ، وَمَنْ رَابَطَ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا فَقَدِ اسْتَكْمَلَ الرِّبَاطَ "
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "Standing guard for one day in the path of Allah is more beloved to me than attaining the Night of Qadr in the Sacred Mosque or the Prophet's Mosque, and whoever stands guard for three days has completed ribat, and whoever stands guard for forty days has completed ribat."
Hadith 3588
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ (1)، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ، قَالَ: « كُلُّ عَمَلِ ابْنِ آدَمَ يَنْقَطِعُ إِذَا مَاتَ صَاحِبُهُ غَيْرَ الرِّبَاطِ، فَإِنَّهُ يَجْرِي لِصَاحِبِهِ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ الْمُرَابِطِ الْحَيِّ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ » .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him): "Every person's deeds come to an end with his death, except for the one who stands guard in the way of Allah; his reward continues until the Day of Resurrection."
Hadith 3589
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ عِصْمَةَ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رِجَالًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُفَضِّلُونَ الرِّبَاطَ عَلَى الْجِهَادِ، قُلْتُ لِأَبِي: وَلِمَ؟ قَالَ: «لِأَنَّ فِي الْجِهَادِ شُرُوطًا كَثِيرَةً، وَلَيْسَتْ فِي الرِّبَاطِ»
Hazrat Asma bin Rashid (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "I heard some of the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) giving preference to ribat over jihad." I asked my father why? He said: "There are many conditions for jihad which are not present in ribat."
Hadith 3590
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ الْأَزْرَقِ (1)، أَنَّ أَبَا سَالِمٍ الْجَيْشَانِيَّ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ، سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ، يَقُولُ: « كُلُّ عَمَلٍ يَنْقَطِعُ عَنْ صَاحِبِهِ، إِذَا مَاتَ إِلَّا الْمُرَابِطُ، فَإِنَّهُ يَجْرِي عَلَيْهِ الرِّبَاطُ حَتَّى يُبْعَثَ مِنْ قَبْرِهِ » .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them): "Every deed comes to an end when a person dies, except the deed of one who stands guard at the frontier; his deed continues until the Day of Resurrection."
Hadith 3591
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو هَانِئٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «كُلُّ مَيِّتٍ يُخْتَمُ عَلَى عَمَلِهِ إِلَّا الْمُرَابِطَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، فَإِنَّهُ يَنْمُو لَهُ عَمَلُهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ، وَيُؤَمَّنُ مِنْ فَتَّانِ الْقَبْرِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Fadala bin Ubaid (may Allah be pleased with him): "The deeds of every deceased person are sealed except for the one who stands guard at the frontier in the way of Allah; his deeds continue to increase until the Day of Resurrection and he remains safe from the punishment of the grave."
Hadith 3592
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ، قَالَ: بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «رَحِمَ اللَّهُ أَهْلَ الْمَقْبَرَةِ» ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، فَسُئِلَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ: تِلْكَ مَقْبَرَةٌ تَكُونُ بِعَسْقَلَانَ " فَكَانَ عَطَاءٌ يُرَابِطُ بِهَا كُلَّ عَامٍ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا حَتَّى مَاتَ
Hazrat Ata Khorasani, may Allah have mercy on him, says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah have mercy on this graveyard." He said this three times. It was asked why? He replied: "This is the graveyard of Asqalan." Then Hazrat Ata would perform ribat there for forty days every year until he passed away there.
