Hadith 3572
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، وَعَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ: «غَزْوَةٌ فِي الْبَحْرِ تَعْدِلُ عَشْرًا فِي الْبَرِّ، وَالْمَائِدُ فِي الْبَحْرِ كَالْمُتَشَحِّطِ فِي دَمِهِ فِي الْبَرِّ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: "One expedition in the sea is equal to ten expeditions on land, and whoever drowns in the sea is like a martyr soaked in blood on land."
Hadith 3573
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ: «لَأَنْ أَغْزُوَ فِي الْبَحْرِ خَيْرٌ لِي مِنْ أَنْ أُنْفِقَ قِنْطَارًا مُتَقَبَّلًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: "Jihad in the sea is better for me than spending a qintar of gold in the way of Allah."
Hadith 3574
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْإِفْرِيقِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي يَسَارٍ السُّلَمِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ، يَقُولُ: «نِعْمَ الْغَزْوُ الْبَحْرُ، لَوْلَا وَاحِدَةٌ لَوْلَا أَنَّ الْعَبْدَ أَقْرَبُ مَا يَكُونُ مِنَ الشَّهَادَةِ يَدْعُو اللَّهَ أَنْ يُخَلِّصَهُ مِنْهُ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) says: "Jihad at sea is the best, if it were not for the fear that a person, being close to martyrdom, would seek salvation from Allah."
Hadith 3575
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرٌو، أَنَّ سَعِيدَ بْنَ أَبِي هِلَالٍ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ كَعْبَ الْأَحْبَارِ كَانَ يَقُولُ: «لِصَاحِبِ الْبَحْرِ عَلَى صَاحِبِ الْبَرِّ مِنَ الْفَضِيلَةِ أَنَّهُ حِينَ يَضَعُ قَدَمَهُ فِيهِ إِذَا كَانَ مُحْتَسِبًا تُفْتَحُ لَهُ أَبْوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ، فَإِنْ قُتِلَ أَوْ غَرِقَ كَانَ لَهُ كَأَجْرِ شَهِيدَيْنِ، وَأَنَّهُ يُكْتَبُ لَهُ مِنَ الْأَجْرِ مِنْ حِينِ يَرْكَبُهُ حَتَّى يَسِيرَ كَأَجْرِ رَجُلٍ ضُرِبَتْ عُنُقُهُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَهُوَ يَتَشَحَّطُ فِي دَمِهِ، وَيَوْمٌ فِي الْبَحْرِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ شَهْرٍ فِي الْبَرِّ، وَشَهْرٌ فِي الْبَحْرِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ سَنَةٍ فِي الْبَرِّ»
Hazrat Ka'b al-Ahbar (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "The warrior of the sea has superiority over the warrior of the land, because when he sets foot in the sea, the gates of Paradise are opened. If he is killed or drowned, he receives the reward of two martyrs."
Hadith 3576
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُهَاجِرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ تَبِيعٍ، عَنْ كَعْبِ الْأَحْبَارِ، قَالَ: «إِذَا وَضَعَ الرَّجُلُ رِجْلَهُ فِي السَّفِينَةِ خَلَّفَ خَطَايَاهُ خَلْفَ ظَهْرِهِ كَيَوْمِ وَلَدَتْهُ أُمُّهُ، وَالْمَائِدُ فِيهِ كَالْمُتَشَحِّطِ فِي دَمِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، وَالصَّابِرُ فِيهِ كَالْمَلِكِ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ التَّاجُ»
Hazrat Ka'b al-Ahbar (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "When a person boards a boat, all his past sins are forgiven as if he were born from his mother's womb, and the one who drowns in the sea is like a martyr drenched in blood, and the one who is patient is as if he has a royal crown on his head."
Hadith 3577
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو الْحَرِيشِ الْقَصَّارُ، قَالَ: أنا ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ: لَوْ كُنْتُ رَجُلًا لَمْ أُجَاهِدْ إِلَّا فِي الْبَحْرِ، وَذَلِكَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «مَنْ أَصَابَهُ مَيْدٌ فِي الْبَحْرِ كَالْمُتَشَحِّطِ فِي دَمِهِ فِي الْبَرِّ»
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "If I were a man, I would only perform jihad at sea, because I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever becomes dizzy at sea is like a martyr drenched in blood on land."
