Hadith 3040
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ حُمَيْضَةَ بْنِ الشَّمَرْذَلِ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ الْأَسَدِيِّ، قَالَ: «أَسْلَمْتُ وَعِنْدِي ثَمَانِي نِسْوَةٍ فَأَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ أَخْتَارَ مِنْهُنَّ أَرْبَعًا»
Al-Harith bin Qais Al-Asadi said: "I became Muslim, and I had eight wives, so the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) ordered me to choose four of them."
Hadith 3041
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا مُغِيرَةُ، عَنْ بَعْضِ وَلَدِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَمِيرَةَ الْأَسَدِيِّ أَنَّ الْحَارِثَ أَسْلَمَ وَعِنْدَهُ ثَمَانِي نِسْوَةٍ، فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: «اخْتَرْ مِنْهُنَّ أَرْبَعًا»
Some of the descendants of Al-Harith bin Qais bin Umairah Al-Asadi narrated that Al-Harith accepted Islam and he had eight wives, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Choose four of them."
Hadith 3042
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا الْكَلْبِيُّ، عَنْ حُمَيْضَةَ بْنِ الشَّمَرْذَلِ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَسْلَمْتُ وَأَسْلَمْنَ مَعِي، هَاجَرْتُ وَهَاجَرْنَ مَعِي، قَالَ: «فَاخْتَرْ مِنْهُنَّ أَرْبَعًا» فَجَعَلْتُ أَقُولُ لِلَّتِي أُرِيدُ إِمْسَاكَهَا: أَقْبِلِي، وَلِلَّتِي أُرِيدُ فِرَاقَهَا: أَدْبِرِي، فَتَقُولُ: أَنْشُدُكَ الرَّحِمَ، أَنْشُدُكَ الْوَلَدَ قَالَ الْكَلْبِيُّ: وَثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ.
Al-Harith bin Qais said: "I said: O Messenger of Allah! I have become Muslim and all of them migrated with me." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Choose four from among them." I would say to the one I wanted to keep: "Come." And to the one I wanted to leave, I would say: "Step back." They would say: "I beseech you by mercy and children."
Hadith 3043
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا يُونُسُ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «يَخْتَارُ مِنْهُنَّ أَرْبَعًا» .
Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "He may choose four women."
Hadith 3044
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الْمَكِّيُّ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ الْعُكْلِيِّ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: «يَخْتَارُ الْأَرْبَعَةَ الْأُوَلَ، وَيُفَارِقُ الْأَوَاخِرَ»
Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "He should keep the first four and leave the rest."
Hadith 3045
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَسْلَمَ وَعِنْدَهُ عَشْرُ نِسْوَةٍ فَأَمَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَخْتَارَ مِنْهُنَّ أَرْبَعًا "
Imam Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: A man accepted Islam and he had ten wives, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Choose four from among them."
Hadith 3046
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، نا هُشَيْمٌ، أنا عَوْفٌ، قَالَ: نا شَيْخٌ فِي مَجْلِسِ الْأَشْيَاخِ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ جَمَعَ بَيْنَ أُخْتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ أَسْلَمَ فِي عَهْدِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ: «اخْتَرْ إِحْدَاهُمَا»، قَالَ عَوْفٌ: فَذَكَرْتُ لِنَاسٍ مِنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ فَعَرَفُوا الرَّجُلَ، وَقَالُوا: هَذَاكَ هَنَّامٌ الْبَكْرِيُّ رَجُلٌ مِنَّا، وَإِنَّ فِيهِ جَفَاءً، وَكَانَ يَقُولُ لِلَّتِي فَارَقَ: أَمَا إِنَّكِ امْرَأَتِي، وَلَكِنْ غَلَبَنِي عَلَيْكِ عُمَرُ
A man from Bakr bin Wa'il had combined two sisters in marriage. Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Choose one of them." It was reported that her name was Hinnam Bakri.
Hadith 3047
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أَنَا مُغِيرَةُ، وَأَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: « كُلُّ يَمِينٍ مَنَعَتْ جِمَاعًا فَهِيَ إِيلَاءٌ » .
It is narrated from Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him), he said: "Every oath that prevents marital relations will be considered as Ila (an oath of abstention)."
