Hadith 1868
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي حَكِيمُ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ، وَضَمْرَةُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ كَسَادِ الْأَيَامَى وَيَدْعُو لَهُنَّ بِالنَّفَاقِ»
It is narrated from Hazrat Hakeem bin Umair and Hazrat Zamrah bin Habib (may Allah have mercy on them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to seek Allah’s refuge from the stagnation of widowed women due to not getting married, and he used to pray for ease in their marriages.
Hadith 1869
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ قَالَ: أنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ قَالَ: أنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْكِنْدِيُّ أَنَّ رَجُلًا خَطَبَ إِلَى رَجُلٍ أُخْتَهُ فَزَوَّجَهَا إِيَّاهُ، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهَا بِجُزُرٍ فَقَبِلَتْهَا، وَقَسَمَتْهَا فِي حَيِّهَا، ثُمَّ إِنَّهَا أَنْكَرَتِ النِّكَاحَ بَعْدُ، فَاخْتَصَمُوا إِلَى شُرَيْحٍ فَقَالَ لِلرَّجُلِ: بَيِّنَتَكَ أَنَّهَا رَضِيَتْ؟ فَقَالَ: مَا لِي بَيِّنَةٌ إِلَّا أَنَّ أَخَاهَا زَوَّجَنِيهَا، وَهُوَ مُقِرٌّ بِذَلِكَ، وَالْجُزُرُ الَّتِي أَهْدَيْتُهَا إِلَيْهَا قَبِلَتْهَا وَقَسَمَتْهَا فِي حَيِّهَا، فَقَالَ شُرَيْحٌ: «لَوْ كُنْتُ قَاضِيًا لِأَحَدٍ بِغَيْرِ بَيِّنَةٍ لَقَضَيْتُ لَكَ ثُمَّ اسْتَحْلَفَ الْمَرْأَةَ بِاللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ مَا رَضِيَتْ، وَلَا أَذِنْتَ وَلَا أَجَازَتْ، فَحَلَفَتْ وَضَمَّنَهَا ثَمَنَ الْجُزُرِ»
It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Thabit Kindi (may Allah have mercy on him): A man asked another for his sister's hand in marriage, he married her off and also sent a gift, which the woman accepted and distributed. Then the woman denied the marriage. The case went to Hazrat Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him), who said: "If there had been testimony, I would have decided in your favor," then he took an oath from the woman and held her responsible for the value.
