Hadith 1863
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا عَوْفٌ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ " أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا زَوَّجَ بِنْتًا مِنْ بَنَاتِهِ أَوْ مِنْ مَوَالِيهِ، قَالَ: يَقُولُ: عَلَيْكَ أَنْ تُمْسِكَ بِمَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ تُسَرِّحَ بِإِحْسَانٍ "
Whenever Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) married off his daughters or slave-girls, he would say: "It is incumbent upon you to either keep them in a recognized (good) manner or to release them in a good way."
Hadith 1864
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ قَالَ: كَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ إِذَا نَكَحَ قَالَ: " أَنْكَحْتُكَ عَلَى مَا أَمَرَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى {إِمْسَاكٌ بِمَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ تَسْرِيحٌ بِإِحْسَانٍ}
Whenever Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) performed a marriage, he would say: "I have married you according to what Allah Almighty has commanded: «معروف طریقے سے انہیں روکو یا اچھے طریقے سے رخصت کرو» [البقرہ: 229]."
Hadith 1865
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ حَسِبْتُ أَنَّهُ سُلَيْمَانُ قَالَ: خَطَبْتُ إِلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ مَوْلَاةً لَهُ، فَقَالَ: " أُنْكِحُكَ عَلَى مَا أَمَرَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ {إِمْسَاكٌ بِمَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ تَسْرِيحٌ بِإِحْسَانٍ}
A man asked for the hand of the slave girl of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), so he said: "I have married you to whom Allah, the Exalted, has commanded: «معروف طریقے سے انہیں روکو یا اچھے طریقے سے رخصت کرو» [البقرہ: 229]."
Hadith 1866
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا مَنْ سَمِعَ أَبَا بَكْرِ بْنَ حَفْصٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ: لَحِقْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ فَخَطَبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ابْنَتَهُ، فَقَالَ لِي: " إِنَّ ابْنَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ لَأَهْلٌ أَنْ يُنْكِحَ، نَحْمَدُ رَبَّنَا وَنُصَلِّي عَلَى نَبِيِّنَا صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ أَنْكَحْنَاكَ عَلَى مَا أَمَرَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ {إِمْسَاكٌ بِمَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ تَسْرِيحٌ بِإِحْسَانٍ}
Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) for his daughter's hand in marriage, so he said: 'We thank Allah and send blessings upon our Prophet (peace be upon him). I have married her to the one whom Allah Almighty has commanded: «معروف طریقے سے انہیں روکو یا اچھے طریقے سے رخصت کرو» [البقرہ: 229].'"
Hadith 1867
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ الْأَشَجِّ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ أَنَّهُ «كَانَ يَكْرَهُ أَنْ يَضَعَ، الرَّجُلُ يَدَهُ عَلَى امْرَأَةٍ قَدْ نَكَحَهَا حَتَّى يُسَمِّيَ صَدَاقَهَا أَوْ يُقَدِّمَ شَيْئًا»
Sulaiman bin Yasar (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "They used to dislike that a man touch a woman without having fixed the dowry or without giving some wealth beforehand."
