الْآيَةُ (13) قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَيُسَبِّحُ الرَّعْدُ بِحَمْدِهِ وَالْمَلائِكَةُ مِنْ خِيفَتِهِ وَيُرْسِلُ الصَّوَاعِقَ فَيُصِيبُ بِهَا مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَهُمْ يُجَادِلُونَ فِي اللهِ وَهُوَ شَدِيدُ الْمِحَالِ}
Verse (13) His saying, Exalted is He: {And the thunder exalts [Allah] with praise of Him—and the angels [as well] from fear of Him—and He sends thunderbolts and strikes therewith whom He wills; yet they dispute about Allah, and He is severe in assault}

Hadith 1161
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَيُسَبِّحُ الرَّعْدُ بِحَمْدِهِ } - قَالَ: الرَّعْدُ مَلَكٌ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ يُسَبِّحُ .
Abu Salih (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “And the thunder glorifies His praise” — meaning, thunder is an angel who glorifies Allah.
Hadith 1162
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: نَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي الْوَلِيدِ، عَنْ زِيَادٍ الْجُعْفِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ: الصَّوَاعِقُ تُصِيبُ الْمُسْلِمَ وَغَيْرَ الْمُسْلِمِ، وَلَا تُصِيبُ ذَاكِرًا .
Muhammad bin Ali (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Lightning strikes both Muslims and non-Muslims, but it does not strike the one who remembers Allah.
Hadith 1163
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، قَالَ: تَنْزِلُ مَعَ الْمَطَرِ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ وَلَدِ آدَمَ وَوَلَدِ إِبْلِيسَ .
Hukm, may Allah have mercy on him, said: The number of angels who descend with the rain is greater than the offspring of Adam (peace be upon him) and Iblis.
Hadith 1164
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا مَهْدِيُّ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ، عَنْ غَيْلَانَ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: مَنْ سَمِعَ صَوْتَ الرَّعْدِ فَلْيَقُلْ: سُبْحَانَ مَنْ سَبَّحْتَ لَهُ، سُبْحَانَ اللهِ الْعَظِيمِ - مَرَّتَيْنِ .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Whoever hears the sound of thunder should say: "Glory be to Him whom it glorifies, Glory be to Allah the Magnificent," twice.
Hadith 1165
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سَلَّامٌ الطَّوِيلُ، عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ فُلَانٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: مَنْ سَمِعَ صَوْتَ الرَّعْدِ فَقَالَ: سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي يُسَبِّحُ الرَّعْدُ بِحَمْدِهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ مِنْ خِيفَتِهِ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ - فَإِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ صَاعِقَةٌ فَعَلَيَّ دِيَتُهُ .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Whoever hears the sound of thunder and says: "Subhanalladhi yusabbihur-ra‘du bihamdihi wal-mala’ikatu min kheefatihi wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadeer," if he is struck by lightning, I guarantee his blood money.
