Al-Jarud bin Abi Sabrah, may Allah have mercy on him, says: My father and I went to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, in Syria on a Friday. He had just finished bathing and was reciting: "For him are successive angels before him and behind him; they guard him by the command of Allah." Then Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said: O Abu Sabrah! Here it is not "successive angels," rather it is: "For him are successive angels behind him and a watcher before him."
