الْآيَةُ (110) قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {حَتَّى إِذَا اسْتَيْئَسَ الرُّسُلُ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ كُذِبُوا جَاءَهُمْ نَصْرُنَا فَنُجِّيَ مَنْ نَشَاءُ} الْآيَةَ
Verse (110) His saying, Exalted is He: {Until, when the messengers despaired and were certain that they had been denied, there came to them Our victory, and whoever We willed was saved} the verse

Hadith 1147
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { حَتَّى إِذَا اسْتَيْئَسَ الرُّسُلُ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ كُذِبُوا } - قَالَ: اسْتَيْأَسَ الرُّسُلُ مِنْ قَوْمِهِمْ أَنْ يَسْتَجِيبُوا لَهُمْ، وَظَنَّ الْقَوْمُ أَنَّ الرُّسُلَ قَدْ كُذِبُوا، جَاءَ أَمْرُ اللهِ .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: “﴿Hatta iza istay’asa ar-rusulu wa zannoo annahum qad kudhiboo﴾ — that is, when the messengers despaired of their people that they would not believe, and their peoples thought that the messengers had lied to them, then Allah’s command came.”
Hadith 1148
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا خَلَفُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ، قَالَ: نَا عَطَاءُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، قَالَ: اسْتَيْأَسَ الرُّسُلُ مِنْ قَوْمِهِمْ أَنْ يُؤْمِنُوا، وَظَنَّ قَوْمُهُمْ أَنَّ الرُّسُلَ قَدْ كُذِبُوا - جَاءَهُمْ نَصْرُنَا، فَنُنْجِي مَنْ نَشَاءُ .
Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The messengers despaired of their peoples that they would not believe, and their peoples thought that the messengers had lied, then Allah's help came and He saved whom He willed.
Hadith 1149
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ: { وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ كُذِبُوا } - خَفِيفَةً .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to recite ﴿وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ كُذِبُوا﴾ in a soft tone.
Hadith 1150
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ حَذْلَمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ: { وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ كُذِبُوا } - خَفِيفَةً .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) used to recite ﴿وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ كُذِبُوا﴾ in a light tone.
Hadith 1151
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ صُبَيْحٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { حَتَّى إِذَا اسْتَيْئَسَ الرُّسُلُ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ كُذِبُوا } - قَالَ: لَمَّا أَيِسَتِ الرُّسُلُ أَنْ يَسْتَجِيبَ لَهُمْ قَوْمُهُمْ، وَظَنَّ قَوْمُهُمْ أَنَّ الرُّسُلَ قَدْ كَذَبُوهُمْ - جَاءَ النَّصْرُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ، فَنُجِّيَ مَنْ نَشَاءُ .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: “﴿Hatta idha istay’asa ar-rusulu wa zannū annahum qad kudhibū﴾ — that is, when the messengers became despondent regarding their people and the people thought that the messengers had spoken falsely, then Allah’s help came and whomever He willed was saved.”
Hadith 1152
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: نَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: قَرَأْتُ سُورَةَ يُوسُفَ بِحِمْصَ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: مَا هَكَذَا أُنْزِلَتْ . فَدَنَوْتُ مِنْهُ فَوَجَدْتُ مِنْهُ رِيحَ الْخَمْرِ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: أَتُكَذِّبُ بِالْحَقِّ وَتَشْرَبُ الرِّجْسَ ! وَاللهِ لَهَكَذَا أَقْرَأَنِيهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَاللهِ لَا أَدَعُكَ حَتَّى أَضْرِبَكَ حَدًّا ! قَالَ: فَضَرَبَهُ الْحَدَّ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I recited Surah Yusuf in Homs, and a man said: "The Qur'an was not revealed in this way." I approached him and sensed the smell of alcohol from him. I said: "You deny the truth and drink alcohol? By Allah! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught me to recite it in this way. By Allah! I will not leave you without enforcing the prescribed punishment." Thus, the punishment was carried out on him.
