الْآيَةُ (17) قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {أَفَمَنْ كَانَ عَلَى بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّهِ وَيَتْلُوهُ شَاهِدٌ مِنْهُ وَمِنْ قَبْلِهِ كِتَابُ مُوسَى إِمَامًا وَرَحْمَةً أُولَئِكَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ وَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِهِ مِنَ الأَحْزَابِ فَالنَّارُ مَوْعِدُهُ}
Verse (17) His saying, Exalted is He: {So is one who stands upon a clear evidence from his Lord [like the aforementioned]? And a witness from Him follows it, and before it was the Book of Moses to lead and as mercy. Those [believers in the former revelations] believe in it. But whoever disbelieves in it from the [various] factions—the Fire is his promised destination}

Hadith 1081
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، قَالَ: كَانَ مُجَاهِدٌ يَقُولُ فِي قَوْلِهِ: { أَفَمَنْ كَانَ عَلَى بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّهِ وَيَتْلُوهُ شَاهِدٌ مِنْهُ }، قَالَ: جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ، وَالتَّالِي: التَّابِعُ . وَقَرَأَ: { وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا * وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلاهَا } .
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding Allah the Exalted’s statement: “Is then he who stands on a clear proof from his Lord, and a witness from Him follows him” (__QUR_N__): This refers to Jibreel (peace be upon him), and the one who recites is the follower, meaning the one who follows. And he recited this verse: “By the sun and its brightness, and by the moon when it follows it” (__QUR_N__), meaning: By the sun and its daylight, and by the moon when it follows it.
Hadith 1082
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَيَتْلُوهُ شَاهِدٌ مِنْهُ } - قَالَ: جِبْرِيلُ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ .
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding Allah the Exalted's statement: ﴿وَيَتْلُوهُ شَاهِدٌ مِنْهُ﴾ meaning "and a witness from Him follows it": This refers to Jibreel (peace be upon him).
Hadith 1083
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { أَفَمَنْ كَانَ عَلَى بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّهِ } - قَالَ: مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ . وَيَتْلُوهُ شَاهِدٌ مِنْهُ، قَالَ: جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ .
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding Allah the Exalted’s statement: “Is then he who stands on clear proof from his Lord...” — he said: This refers to our master Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). And regarding “and a witness from Him follows him,” he said: This refers to Jibril (Gabriel), peace be upon him.
Hadith 1084
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: لَا يَسْمَعُ بِي أَحَدٌ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ يَهُودِيٌّ وَلَا نَصْرَانِيٌّ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِي إِلَّا كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّارِ . فَقُلْتُ: مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، فَقَرَأْتُ فَوَجَدْتُهُ: { وَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِهِ مِنَ الأَحْزَابِ فَالنَّارُ مَوْعِدُهُ } .
Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever from my Ummah hears about me, whether he is a Jew or a Christian, and does not believe in me, then he will be among the people of Hell. I said: What the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has said is already present in the Book of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic. Then I recited the Qur'an and found this verse: ﴿وَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِهِ مِنَ الْأَحْزَابِ فَالنَّارُ مَوْعِدُهُ﴾ That is, whoever denies it, he will be the fuel of Hell.
