الْآيَةُ (128) قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {لَقَدْ جَاءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ مِنْ أَنْفُسِكُمْ عَزِيزٌ عَلَيْهِ مَا عَنِتُّمْ حَرِيصٌ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَءُوفٌ رَحِيمٌ}
Verse (128) His saying, Exalted is He: {There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. Grievous to him is what you suffer; [he is] concerned over you and to the believers is kind and merciful}

Hadith 1053
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَعْدَةَ، قَالَ: كَانَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ لَا يُثْبِتُ آيَةً فِي الْمُصْحَفِ حَتَّى يُشْهِدَ عَلَيْهَا رَجُلَانِ، فَجَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَحَدَّثَهُ بِالْآيَتَيْنِ مِنْ آخِرِ سُورَةِ التَّوْبَةِ: { لَقَدْ جَاءَكُمْ } الْآيَةَ، فَقَالَ: لَا أَسْأَلُكَ عَلَيْهَا بَيِّنَةً، كَذَلِكَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَأَثْبَتَهُ .
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) would not include any verse in the Qur'an until two men testified to it. Then an Ansari man came to him and informed him about the last two verses of Surah At-Tawbah: "There has certainly come to you..." (i.e., the Messenger of Allah has come to you). So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I do not seek any other testimony from you regarding this; this matter is also established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Thus, he included these verses in the Mushaf.
